JOURNEY AROUND OUR COUNTRY CONTINUES

Retrospective Log:  

DECEMBER 1-31, 2023: I am now 2402 Days (approximately: 5 Years, 3 Month, 0 Weeks – LINK) and still maintaining my workout streak.

As I write this on JAN 1 [, I am struggling to make some changes that will only be beneficial if I am able to come through it and not sweat the small stuff.  I have to free up more time and level off my life, so that I have more time for other things.  I spend a tremendous amount of time on the computer, cataloging my day, but I need to be more efficient at that.  This means I have to cut down to bear essentials and then reassess, so I am gonna make a radical move with both of my logs – fitness and daily log.  It might hurt some, but it is necessary.  Between those 2 and my numbers, it is just not doing to cut it anymore.  Also, here, I am gonna limit each section to a sentence and cut some of the previous areas.  I don’t know how it is gonna end up here, so I am just gonna go at it right now.  This one might be a bit longer (oh boy! here I go making exceptions already) since I am wrapping up the end of the year, plus I did not do a wrap up in November, so I will try to capture some of that here.  Here we go:

AREA 1:
Body:
   **Injuries/Aches:  Body has been pretty amazing over the last few weeks ending the year.  My shoulders were all doing good, until mid-December, when my right upper chest/shoulder started giving me a bit of an issue.  My right elbow also, was not being good.  I have also, up until – today, actually, have been having a bit of sciatica on my left side.  The ache that I was having on my right lower back is pretty much not an issue now, I figured it was just my psoas giving me some issues.

    **Routine: I have not done much but just resting and light work for the last 2 weeks.  My body feels good.  I have started working in dumbbells into my workouts and that seems to be working well.  I will continue this over the next 90 days or so.

   **Tracked Metrics:  I hit most of my planned metrics for the month, but again, my Total Calories Burned did not quite get to 100% (99.83%); additionally, I also missed the yearly by 3.03%.  I will have to do better tracking this year, as I was able to make up on the last day –  situps, leg lifts and flutter kicks.  Making up 34k+ Calories is no joke; I need at least 2 weeks.   

    **Supplements: I am continuing with Berberine which I am still of sure of yet.  I did quite a bit of I-F over the last few months on Berberine and my A1c did not budge.  The good thing was there was no increase in any of my metabolic numbers, so I will continue tweaking workout and diet.  Along with Berb, I am now steady on Psyllium Husk (fiber), Fish Oil and Magnesium.   

   **Diet: I fell of the MFP in recent week, especially since Thanksgiving.  I think I just wasn’t prepare for eating in other location and estimating my food input.  I pretty much maintained, might be a slight bit chunky, but I am close enough to the target to get back onboard without much issue.  Intermittent Fasting is gonna be a big part of my future.  I need to do 2-2hr and 2-18hr fast each month, while keeping all else constant, to see effect on avgGlucose / A1c.  I am really considering the CGM and should figure that out by the end of January. 

Goals:
    **Spanish:  My streak on Duolingo (511) 9AUG2022 and Drops (281 days).  I slowed down this month, but I am gonna push to finish Group 3 this month.  I was able to clear my review stack last month, but then slow down again and started marking time.]

AREA 2:

Financials:
Awesome year for markets broadly.  Inflation is seriously regressing and the job market remains robust.  Not much to complain about in the US, economically.

Socio/Political:
US: As if we haven’t come to expect this, but Trumps rhetoric is now co-opting Hittler’s.  He has been the talk of the entire year 2023. 
World: Israel continues its war in Gaza, reports come in on the number of Gazans dead and how horrible life is there, but not much else.
World 2: Ukrain-Russia war continue.  The reports right now is that we are in a stalemate, while concerns grow regarding U.S support.

Chey –  Awesome last few week, She got A’s in her college courses and seem to be well settled in her job at Woodland Acres Elementary.   
Marcus – The word is KMarc. Met his girlfriend seriously at his graduation and her parents spent Thanksgiving together.  They spent sometime with us at Christmas and it was just awesome.
Grid – She had an awesome year.  I don’t know her numbers, but she put in her time at the gyms for sure.

DareBee
Still have not missed a day of Daily Dare.  My focus right now is lifting and getting stronger, so I have limited my the scope of my workout to cover as much in short a time as possible.

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears pushing through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.
