Life is beautiful:  I ran across Faye Wong (王菲) when a friend of mine loan me his hard drive to copy a bunch of music.  I saw 3 songs with Chinese characters next to them.  I didn’t pay much attention to them, never played them, just copied them.  A year later (May 2011), I was going through my collection and cleaning up, and decided to play one of the song  – see below.  I was blown away.  I swear I probably listened to it and the other songs a million times…they totally moved me deeply.  I am totally convinced now that music is universal and is one of the most beautiful experience we can have.  I have no idea, save the translated topics to the songs, what her words are, but her voice is so expressive it is unbelievable.

Here are the initial songs I listened to (click to listen):
1.  我愿意
2.  棋子
3.  容易受伤的女人

Faye is consider, probably the most influential artist in China (hello Jackie Chan).  She is pretty reserve and has kept out of the limelight for the most part throughout her career. It blows me away that she is not better known outside of China.  I don’t think that the language is a limiting factor, her expressiveness can carry the day.  I really…really….love this stuff.
