Entering into Part II of Hero’s Journey for my 2016 phase 5, I really feel good about the way my body has held up to the daily push.  I am really enjoying the incorporation of weights into the regime.  This phase, for cardio, I will be climbing K2 (28,251 feet) in the Karakoram mountain range; the second highest mountain in the world after Everest.  I did Everest (29,029 feet) last year and it was a blast. I know it will throw off my historic pace number, but that’s ok.  I will be moving into pre-60’s this phase, as well as changing up/substituting for some of the exercises that hit the same areas.  I will keep intensity at the same level, as it appears that keeps down injuries.  So after a couple days off between phase, I am back on the journey babees!

DAY 31-30 [APR 8]
Distance: 94.99 + 2.98 = 97.97 (LA-OK Run: 183.94)

Summary: Today is a good day.  Finished up IronBorn today and now trying to decide on what to do next.  I think I will do a bunch of challenges , Daily Dares, and light cardio until I see the doctor.  .  It took me forever to get to the end IronBorn, but it really has been a whirlwind start to the year.  At any rate, I am hoping to have a bit of control as we settle things down around us.  Felt good today – did a great deal, but instead of racing through them, since they are mainly strength types, I slowed it down and got a nice burn.  I will jump right into 15 straight days of exercise tomorrow; so far I am on day 4.  Push through pre’s, in fact blasted out 240 leg lifts, but fell short because I did not look carefully at the balance to make it to 100%.  No big deal, I am still on tract. Additionally, I notched a 2.98 miler to my total on my push to OKC via Benton…can’t wait to get to tomorrow to do this again – Ciao!

 

DAY 30-29 [APR 7]

Summary: Stepped it up a little bit today, but still taking it easier than I normally would.  Did another Quad on the DD and it feels good.  On IronBorn, all went relatively well but I had to pull it back a bit on the side raises.  I felt a bit weak, but I think it might just have been from the extra DD and the pre’s – I really pushed it in a couple departments.  At any rate, I feel pretty good.  Tomorrow is the final day for this phase – with everything that block my finishing earlier – I give me props for sticking with and finishing up; like I said I will be going at it again later this year.  Also added just over 2 miles today on my push to OKC via Benton…will be back on it tomorrow – Ciao!

Summary: Taking it a bit easy on the cardio.  Need to get a heart workup – although I have been pushing it most of last year and in recent months, I just read a piece about a pretty well known fitness enthusiast/coach who suffered a heart attack at age 52.  I am in that zone, so I think it would be prudent, since I have not seen a doctor in well over a heart to get a workup.  In the meantime, I am gonna pull it back a bit.  Mainly worked on core today and did a light jog for about 2 miles but all around covered 3.37 miles today.  So 3.37 miles added to my push to OKC via Benton…Ciao!

Summary: Been away for just over 2 weeks.  Trying my best to push through the winter but it is not that easy.  I keep getting injured.  Just over 2 weeks ago, as I was getting ready to finish up IronBorn, I tweaked my lower back on the left side.  It had me in uncomfortable pain for much of that time and hadn’t really abated until about a couple days ago.  I decided to give it a try today not pushing it too much.  I worked a full DareBee workout along with a big push on getting caught up on my Daily Dares.  I also pushed through my pre’s as well – good was quite a few of them were covered by my DareBee regime for today.  I think I am gonna push through and finish up IronBorn – go directly into another exercise and later on this year probably come back to IronBorn again.  Today I did not notch but 1min on my way to OKC via Benton…Ciao!

Summary: Great to get back on the roll a bit today.  Did a whole bunch of DD’s and for Ironborn – Back and Bi’s.  Push through my pre’s.  I do have a bit of a twinge still on my lower left torso – back, so I have to watch that.  Otherwise I feel pretty good.  As we transition into spring, I will have to up my cardio to burn off my middle tire.  I am feel a bit stronger. Summary: I have been out of commission the last 3-day due to tweaking my lower left side.  I think I just was not warmed up or the muscle wasn’t stretched out properly.  I had a pretty full workout today, but my run turned into a study cross run-elliptical crawl.  I didn’t want to put too much pressure on it since I was just coming back, so I started off as a fast uphill on the treadmill, but then I started feeling a bit of a weird sensation in the area, so I stopped at a mile and switched to the elliptical.  For some reason, I am not liking the elliptical too much anymore.  I will have to get back up to speed on it tho.  It has to remain in my regiment.  I knocked out a triple DD and 2 workouts, along with my regular pre’s.  I feel good right now, but I am gonna down some ibuprofen to head-off any inflammation that might be building.  Added another 3mi to my total on my way to OKC via Benton.  Hopefully, I will stay in the game for tomorrow…Ciao!

Summary:   Last couple days have been pretty taken up.  I believe I wrote in my dailies – I got caught up in getting caught up.  At any rate, I doubled up last two days.  No issues with pre’s.  The first part of the workout was upperbody and then I went right into lower body.  I tweaked my left lower back at the end of upperbody workout – not sure when or how, but it bugging me a bit.  Will rest it up and hopefully in goes away or doesn’t get any worse by morning.  Added 3.78mi to my total on my way to OKC via Benton.  Expect my legs to be a bit sore in the morning.  Take care…Ciao!

Summary:   Another late entry again – totally filled this in a few days ago, but sure as shit did not do the final update so I lost everything.  I am starting to get a little annoyed with myself.  I continue to make this dumbshit mistake and it is really starting to piss me off.  At any rate, did a pretty intense leg workout (maybe that’s why my head is all messed up.  Anyway no really issues with the workout and the pre’s.  Had a relatively fast run.  I keep telling myself to hold off, but I can’t help it now.  Tacked on another 3.26mi to the meter on my way to OKC via Benton.  Feeling good and doing awesome! Summary:   Felt sort a tough today.  Started out on the elliptical, but I just wasn’t getting the pump, so I decided to jump over to the treadmill to pump it up a bit.  By the time I moved over I had to push really hard to catch up to where I needed to be.  My body wasn’t having it, so my time went to sh*ts.  At any rate, today was back and biceps, I did a Double on the Daily Dare and work through my pre’s without incident.  Additionally, I tacked on a 3.56mi run on my way to OKC via Benton.  Getting it done! Son!

 

DAY 18-13 [FEB 27]

Summary:   A bit of a challenge today.  Increase the push to 7.0 for about 1mi.  Have gotten up to that speed and maintained it in some time, so obviously the body wasn’t altogether too happy about it.   At any rate, pre’s and DareBee was a pleasure – no really.  I worked shoulders and triceps and was able to work my pushup into DB, so that was a good thing.  Ran a pretty nice 3mi for workout, but all-around was able to put 4.7mi on the ticker as I push on my way to OKC via Benton.  The body felt good – getting it done son!

Summary:   All around  excellent and quick workout.  Running a relatively fast 3 miler gets me in and out of the workout really quickly.  This was under an hour to get through and I feel a nice little burn; nothing too harsh, just right.  No issues with pre’s got through those nicely and since the focus today was core by DareBee, that worked quite well with pre’s.  So 3mi additional added to my run to OKC via Benton.  Getting things done…huraah!

Summary:   Felt pretty good today – heart rate jumped at the beginnng and stayed relatively high.  I have not been watching that all along, but I don’t think that is my norm.  I think my body is try to send me some signal – telling me to take it easy maybe.  At any rate, I am in need of a check up anyway, so I need to go ahead and get that done.  Today was plank day.  The way DareBe have yo do it in IronBorn, unless they are gonna ramp it up – it was eazy peezy. Summary:   Honestly – not a bad workout.  Got woozy because I did have a proper meal today and the weights that I was playing with today were quite taxing on the body.  Blood pressure felt pretty low due to sub-normal sugar and so I got light-headed and started sweating – body was telling me dude, you have nothing in the tank to go on, so you better back it up.  At any rate, took a bit of down time and an easy 3mi run and now I feel relatively ok.  Got’s to get something to eat though.  Still pressing ahead on the way to OKC via Benton tho.  Caio!

DAY 10-5 [FEB 11]

Summary:   Felt pretty good with this workout.  Did quite a few things – never did swipers before, they looked intimidating until you start doing them and then they are pretty cool.  3 miler in – I also feel good about that.  The pre’s are a little underwhelming, but that ok, I need to get into the consistently realm before deciding to change anything.  Crap, I am 45 days into the year and still haven’t put together 30 good days of working out.  No pressure tho, I am go at a comfortable speed – no rush.  Will get to OKC via Benton – little by little.

DAY 9 (Non-DareBee) [FEB 9]

Summary:  Felt a bit better today as opposed to yesterday.  Continued to work the upperbody through 6 exercises so I am bit sore.  Also working the pre’s in the mix and a 3 mile run timed.  Motivation level is still low, but I feel it building a bit, especially with the music.   Continuing on my OKC via Benton, I notched another 3mi to day again.  O’yeah!

DAY 5-1 [FEB 1]

Summary:  Since I have been out of commission for a couple of weeks I have decided to restart this phase.  I am not sure yet how I am gonna fold it in, but for now, I have restarted Day 1 of IronBorn; maybe tomorrow I will decide to break it out for February, as opposed to flow it from January to February.  Today the focus was on upperbody, as I say, it is Day1 all over again – no stress, just getting it done.  Overall, I felt a bit sluggish on the treadmill.  The 3 miler was a trudge, I couldn’t wait to get it over with.  No worries, I have something for my body.  It needs a bit of motivation and I will just have to give it to it.  On my OKC via Benton, I notched another 3mi so it was good to be back on the road again.

Summary: Layman’s workout today – just getting it done.  Today’s focus was on core – no probs, I just worked it into my regular pre-routine.  The only thing was I had to do the sit-twist with a dumbbell – not that kicked my butt some.  I am also back in the DailyDare game; started yesterday, but did not log it or talked about it tho.  Good 3 miler at a steady increasing pace – feeling good pushing to OKC via Benton…O’yeah!

Summary: Felt strong on this workout.  Had a slight discomfort in my right hip. I feel that it pretty much comes from me not stretching properly before I start my run.  I don’t feel it otherwise, so I am not too worried about it.  All in all good workout, the run was a bit faster today.  I did 1 mile at 6.0 pace, then mile 2 t teh 6.5 pace and then I dropped back to 6.0 for the last mile.  I am still getting used to my shoes, but I will have to work on my gait a bit, that might have something to do with my hip as well.  At any rate, IronBorn is giving me a slight burn (today was legs) and overall I feel good.  Still pushing to OKC via Benton…hooah!

Summary: Another good workout.  So far, I like the nature of the workout.  My body feels relatively fit.  I am able to run 3+ miles without much effort.  I think I will go ahead and continue the 3.0-ish miles per workout day and then kick it up on the weekend days to a 60 minute run.  I will then continue that until the spring then increase to a 13-miler so I can run my first half-marathon.  I think I will be able to maintain this with little effort, as my body feels pretty fit.  Still tracking the trip to OKC via Benton, although I haven’t brought on anybody else to help.  Just don’t see anyone serious enough for this shit.

Summary: RSo  here we go for 2017.  After a 10 day respite, due to a hard push through the end of the year and with the resolve to not overdo it during the eating holiday, I am just kicking things off today.  So for the next 20 days I will be working a weight training regiment along with Daily Dares to get me body of to a super great start.  I am still pushing the OKC via Benton, LA run, so stay tuned.
